Cultural Perspective

I have been really thinking a lot about perspective vs. reality. Reality is a constant, however the public or personal perspective collectively dilutes the full scope of reality or even changes it completely into something false. People are constantly spinning ideas and situations to fit their own personal or political agenda.

Going to Catholic school at an early age made me very aware of the ever changing truth about reality. I started trying to find the "truth" but came to the realization that I have a filter that changes reality into my perceived reality. Relationships are a perfect example of perceived reality. There is one person in my past that views our time together completely different from me yet we were at the same places, together. The versions of the past differ so much that the reality of it all is lost.

Maybe this backs up my obsession with documenting. There is a truth to photos, films, voice recordings, etc. that cannot be disputed. A painting or drawing, yes I suppose but the other methods can capture "Real" moments.

Keep searching for the truth, not your truth or my truth but the actual truth.

Reality

Reality is the state of things as they actually exist, rather than as they may appear or might be imagined. In a wider definition, reality includes everything that is and has been, whether or not it is observable or comprehensible. A still more broad definition includes everything that has existed, exists, or will exist.
